Dr. Md. Fakhruddin is a fisheries and aquaculture researcher with over 7.5 years of professional and teaching experience in fish breeding, hatchery management, and aquaculture research. 

Dr. Fakhruddin has extensive experience in genetic improvement programs, on-farm performance trials, and dissemination. He played a key role in the on-farm trial of the Genetically Improved G3 Rohu (Labeo rohita) in Bangladesh and served as Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) for the G5 Rohu performance trial, contributing to trial design under WorldFish’s selective breeding initiative to enhance growth performance and sustainability in aquaculture in Bangladesh. 

At WorldFish, he contributes to research design, field implementation, data collection, and stakeholder engagement to promote the dissemination and adoption of genetically improved fish strains. His expertise spans induced breeding, reproductive endocrinology, broodstock management, limnology, data analysis, and aquaculture systems management.

Previously, he worked as an Officer (Production) at BRAC Fisheries Enterprise, where he gained hands-on experience in hatchery operations, fish seed production, Aquaculture, and farmer training.

His research interests include Induced Breeding, Reproductive Endocrinology, Limnology, and Fisheries Resource Management, with a focus on advancing sustainable aquaculture and improving the productivity of aquatic food systems through science-based innovation.

Dr. Fakhruddin is a faculty member teaching courses in Limnology, Freshwater Aquaculture, Fish Hatchery Operation and Management, Fisheries Reproductive Biology and Breeding, and Fish Physiology and Immunology.
